In Jammu and Kashmir’s district of Rajouri, near the Line of Control (LoC) between India and Pakistan, there was an explosion in the Baroodi tunnel, resulting in the sacrifice of one soldier and injuries to two others. The incident occurred while the soldiers were on patrol in the forward area.
According to information, on Thursday morning, around 10:30 AM, an explosion took place in the Baroodi tunnel near Pokhara forward post, close to the Line of Control, in the Kalal area of Rajouri district. This unfortunate event led to the martyrdom of one soldier and injuries to two others. As soon as the news of the incident reached, other soldiers rushed to the scene. The injured soldier was immediately taken to the nearby hospital for initial treatment. After initial treatment, one of the injured soldiers was shifted to Udhampur Command Hospital through an airlift.
Agni Veer Ajay Singh, a resident of Ludhiana district in Punjab, made the supreme sacrifice. Sepoy Balvant sustained injuries, and he is currently undergoing treatment in Udhampur. Naib Subedar Dharminder Singh also suffered minor injuries, and his treatment is underway at 150 GH (General Hospital).
Upon receiving information about a suspicious tunnel near the International Border (IB) in Samba district, a search operation was initiated. As soon as the information was received, a team of police and security forces reached the location. The team conducted a thorough search operation with the help of search dogs and modern equipment. The area was cordoned off, and the search operation, including the use of JCBs, continued for about six hours.
