“Shock Discovery in Boeing 737MAX Fleet Triggers Urgent Inspections in India!”

The Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced the discovery of a missing washer in the Aft Rudder Quadrant of a Boeing 737MAX aircraft during fleet inspections prompted by an operator airline’s report. Following this, Boeing, the aircraft manufacturer, has advised a one-time inspection of all 40 Boeing 737MAX airplanes in India before January 10.

Among the 40 aircraft, comprising Akasa Air (22), Spicejet (9), and Air India Express (9), inspections have been completed on 39 planes with no issues found, except for one aircraft with the missing washer. Necessary rectification actions, in line with Boeing’s recommendations, have been undertaken for that specific aircraft. The inspection for the remaining aircraft will be finalized before it resumes service.

Earlier, the aviation regulator had already concluded the precautionary inspections of operational Boeing 737-8 Max planes following an incident involving an Alaska Airlines aircraft last week.
